Q. What kind of image files can I put on my website?

A. You can use GIF (.gif) and JPEG (.jpg) image files on your site. The maximum file size allowed per image is 200kb. As a basic guide, use GIF type images for images such as flat-colour logos (i.e. few or no gradients); Use JPEG files for photographs.

Q. How do I put images on my site?

A. If your images are stored on your computer in the correct format, click on the Build tab. Select the Image Manager by clicking on the Continue button in the Image Manager box.
Before including images in your site, you must transfer them from your computer to your website. You do this by clicking on the Browse button and locating the image file on your computer. When you have located the image, select it and click the Open button. The location of your image file will appear in the filed on the page. Click the Continue button ONCE ONLY. Depending on the size of the image you are transferring, it may take several seconds for the page to change. When the image has been transferred you will see a message confirming the successful transfer. You can continue to transfer more images if you wish.
The images are now on your website ready to include in your pages. To add an image to your page, edit the page as normal and insert the image using the Insert Image button on the toolbar.

Q. How do I create a link (either with a hyperlink or a thumbnail image) to open an image in a new window?

A. The easiest way to make an image open in a new window is to load the image into your File Manager.

To create an image pop-up:
•    Go to Website Builder>File Manager
•    Click Browse
•    Locate the image on your computer and double click on the file name
•    Click Upload Files to your Site
•    The image name now appears in the File Manager (disregard the ‘?’ icon)
•    Go to Website Builder>Add | Edit Pages
•    Click on the page name you want to add the image link to.
•    Highlight the text, or click on the image that you want visitors to click on.
•    Select the Link to File icon in the WYSIWYG toolbar
•    Click on the image name in the list that appears
•    In the Target Dropdown box, select New Window
•    Click Save this Page
•    Publish the site.

Q. Does your system resize images?

A. No. The WYSIWYG editor is a ‘layout’ tool, not a photo editor. For best results, you will need to resize the image in an image editing program before loading the image to your site.

Q. I don’t have Image Editing Software, do I have to buy some?

A. While there are many Image Editing software packages available for purchase, there are some very good ‘freeware’ versions as well. Irfanview is a free image editing program that you can download from www.irfanview.com. This program will enable you to resize and crop (reshape) images quickly and easily. Alternatively if you are thinking of buying software ‘Adobe Photoshop Elements‘ is a good quality program that is reasonably priced. Stores such as Harvey Norman and DSE Powerhouse generally stock photo editing software.

Q. Does your system overwrite images in the Image Manager when uploading?

A. No, it does not. In order to upload a new file with the same name, you need to delete the old file and then upload the new one. If you upload a new image that has the exact same name as an image already in the Image Manager, the new image name will be changed to include a number at the end.
